Inventor Jerome Case founded the business of CASE within Racine, when he began the construction of threshing machines. Later the business gained recognition internationally as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. Case had established themselves in the construction machine business by 1912. They became a producer of road building machines including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery company through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading manufacturer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the company New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for marketing several of the leading brands of construction and agricultural machines in the globe.
