How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right alternative for completing tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries will need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be positioned next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, units that are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
