Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is required within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase production while making the most of available storage space.
