Various Classes of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a specialized type of heavy machinery which enables employees to be lifted into the air. These machinery could be used to carry out repairs and maintenance in places which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to the majority of tools, there are various types of aerial lifts which can be utilized to carry out different jobs. For the utmost safety, every kind of different type of equipment needs right training and specific qualifications prior to operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic kind of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up utilizing pneumatic power and are mostly used indoors. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven like big carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody can use these tools, workers should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complex pieces of aerial lift equipment. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket that enables the operator to lower and hoist the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, therefore, operators must be certified separately for these types of lifts.
