Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are amongst the most frequently used kinds of crane in the construction business. They are used to build everything from buildings and skyscrapers to roadways and freeway overpasses.
There is a large range of crane models, styles and sizes available on the market. There are lots of different types in order to serve a variety of different purposes in the business. Choosing the best type of crane is vital for making sure that the material can be efficiently and safely transported to the location it needs to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes would typically have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whereas the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are extremely helpful for building locations where a crane is needed in many different places for the duration of the build. This is because of the fact that the crane could be driven easily from one location to another.
In addition, the cranes can be transported to various construction locations on the road since they can drive themselves and this eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly reduces transport expenses at the end of the day.
One drawback of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Hence, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers make use of hydraulic pressure in order to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has large tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are really similar to bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks allow the crane to successfully move around a construction locations.
