Skyjack Safety
A scissor lift is a specialized type of industrial equipment that is used for "positioning personnel, their equipment and their tools," based on Skyjack. Anyone who is preparing to use this kind of machinery must familiarize themselves with the suggested safety and operational measures recommended by the manufacturer to be able to stay safe before attempting to operate this particular machine. It could be devastating to the operator themselves and any bystanders resulting in serious injuries if the safety recommendations are not followed.
Area
In the best case scenario, the scissor lift will be used on totally level ground. Prior to driving a scissor lift over a certain terrain, the area needs to be inspected and cleared of any debris. To be able to lessen the risks of the scissor lift tipping over and probably causing the operator to fall from his seat. It is recommended to avoid holes or steep grades while operating. Bystanders should also remain aware and avoid the operating scissor lift in order to make sure that they do not get run over.
Inspection
Prior to attempting to use a scissor lift, the user must thoroughly inspect all the important components of the equipment. The operator can see if all the components are working properly before the task is initiated, a functional test is performed while the lift is retracted. It is better to perform a daily inspection on this machinery prior to starting the shift and some places even want an inspection to occur at the end of the shift also. Different businesses have various policies in place to maintain safety.
Part of the inspection has to be checking over the tires. These parts obviously add to the scissor lift's movability and also provide the equipment with a solid foundation. A tire that is worn or faulty can blow and throw the operator from their location on top of scissor lift.
